Moody Peacock Blues Board

Moody Peacock Blues Bedroom

I’ve been enamored with the idea of painting our master bedroom a peacock blue (Martha Stewart’s Plumage, actually) since I first saw the lovely guest bedroom makeover over on YHL (my must-read blog every morning). In fact, I have a test spot of color on the wall behind the door, and it’s been there since … October?

And while I’m pretty settled on the color, and I’m eager to paint the room, I’ve been holding back for months while I’ve gathered wall decor (art, mirrors, etc.), bedding, curtains, etc. I have this habit of jumping into things and not following them through, so I wanted to collect everything before I even buy paint.

I already have the duvet and the four prints in the moodboard (plus others), I just don’t have much of anything else (frames!). And, quite honestly, I ordered the curtains from Urban Outfitters a month ago only to find out they were on back order, then my order was canceled. So … yeah. I need to find copycats, I think, because I adore these.

Our master bedroom is very, very small, but the two windows face east, so it sees a lot of sunlight during the day. It is currently painted a minty seafoam green color, a color I now see all over Pinterest (which has me reconsidering my teal, because if I wasn’t tired of the seafoam I could just swap out art and accessories), but I want a change.

I’m looking for bold, dramatic color.

I want art that represents both my husband and I. This is a tall order since we have different tastes, but I think the pieces I’ve chosen will marry those two tastes. I hope.

I want something that is an adult space. Before I got the duvet it looked like a frat house, I think, because the linens didn’t match and neither does the furniture. Maybe I’ll even paint the furniture or create some kind of alternative headboard, too. I just really, really want it to look like we’re in our early 30s, not our early 20s. (Meaning, it needs to look put together.)

I don’t know when I’ll get around to actually doing this, considering I’ve just redecorated two other bedrooms and we have other priorities right now, but a girl can do a little planning, right?

Your turn: Anyone painted their walls teal? Did you regret it?

We are about to paint our kitchen cabinets a light blue. So, we’ll see how that goes. I think the peacock blue is gorgeous and would be a perfect bedroom color. Just paint the damn thing already!

I vote we have a sangria and tex-mex painting party. I have a tortilla press and soon we’ll (hopefully!) have tomatoes, tomatillos and peppers for salsa. ;)

Just finished remodeling our bathrooms. Left Uncle Wayne’s (hall) bathroom same sage green color and we completely re-did mine (Master). We painted it an earthy gold and I loved it. Of course, that made the MO DOT orange look bad in our bedroom, so I had about 24 hours to do the bedroom before the carpenters came back. With help from Ian, moving the furniture around, we got it done. LOVE the gold color. With my navy accents, it looks pretty nice.
