Someone asked what I did with my night away from my kids – I hung out with a friend. I slept late. I went to Target by myself, twice!
I can’t believe it’s August! Ack. Where is 2007 going? I guess time flies when you’re having fun, right?
So I’ve officially been moved into the Covington office at work. We had an office in the south end of the county, the part I was hired to cover (though now I do all sorts of things), but the dentist who occupies half the building has purchased the entire thing and so the South Tipton Chamber of Commerce must move out and so do we. We will no longer have a south end office. I was rarely there anyway, I preferred to work from home, which seemed to be okay with my editor.
And in the last week our office has undergone a major overhaul – cubicles taken down, things cleared out. It’s a nice change. And I have an official place there, which is nice. I love my coworkers and love going to work, so I’m happy. I’m more productive there, too.
The kids are all doing just absolutely fantastic. Tomorrow is supposed to be Jaiden’s first day of school, but she’s not going. The Kindergarteners aren’t required to go tomorrow, but the Kindergarten parents have to come in and fill out paperwork. Joy of joys. So instead of spending hours carting her to and fro, I will just leave her with the sitter and I will go to the school, fill out the stupid paperwork, find out who her teacher is, and go back to work. Tomorrow is deadline and not a good day to be out. My boss’s son is going into Kindergarten as well, so he understands. So two out of the three people on the news staff will be out for a bit on deadline day, yuck.
I kind of feel bad for not taking her tomorrow, but I just don’t see the point. She will go next week and she will be in school until at least 2020, so one day won’t kill her.
This morning I made Jaylen wear shoes that were half a size too small for him. He was not responsible with his shoes and lost the other two pair that fit, so guess what? He had to wear what I could find. I hated having to do that, but we ALWAYS go through the whole “be responsbile for your shoes” deal. I know he’s only three-and-a-half, but come on, he’s old enough to put his shoes away and keep track of them, right? He needs to learn that I am serious when I say something.
Jenna learned to say “bye-bye” yesterday. She said, “Zip, GO!” the other morning, too. She’s so funny! She looks like a little toddler girl now instead of a baby. Aww. She will be 17 months old on Friday. Jaiden first peed in the potty at 17 months.
My parents come back tomorrow. The kids can’t wait. I can’t wait for Dad to get back to feeding his dog and taking care of the pool and the buckets that hang from my rafters that collect water from the A/C unit. lol. (I flooded the pool overnight and had to call Tyrel to ask how to backflush. Shh.)
I’ve mentioned that I’ve had to be the one to cook lately. We haven’t eaten out at all, which will be surprising to my parents. lol. I think Tyrel might have taken them to McDonald’s on Saturday night or something, though. Sunday we ate at Katie’s baby shower. Monday we had pasta. Last night I made the kids quesadillas. I had this black bean, corn and salsa dip with homemade corn tortilla chips. The dip is so easy – just combine equal parts of black beans (rinsed and drained), shoepeg corn (drained) and the salsa of your choice. Stir it all up and eat it with chips. It’s really good (and more so if you can chill it first) – and you know I am not a fan of corn nor black beans!
Tonight … eh, I have no idea what we’ll have. And it’s nearly 7 p.m. Oy.
