So last night, this is what my week looked like:

Monday – deadline for our Tuesday edition. My editor’s daughter just had a baby, so he is out of town and I get to be him tomorrow (will be sharing his duties with the Lifestyles editor). I have quite the lengthy list of things to do, stories to write, webstuffs to approve, normal newspaper stuff to do and yay fun. Oy. In the afternoon I have to attend the opening ceremonies for a youth baseball tournament – quite the big to-do – and a friend of mine sponsors that ballfield, so I am planning on a picture of him with the mayor and the ball players. Then I get to come home and drop my kids off because I have to attend my city’s finance meeting in the place of my editor. Wee.

Tuesday
I have to take the kids to the sitter’s house, which is 30 mins. from my house, then head back up to my town to drop Jaiden off for the Kindergarten Round-Up, then turn around and drive BACK to the town where the sitter lives to attend a 911 board meeting in place of my boss. THEN, I get to drive back home, pick up Jaiden, bring her BACK to the sitter’s house. FUN TIMES. (NOT!) And then I have to do whatever stories I will be working on for Friday’s edition. One of the graphic designers and I will be climbing a STEEPLE for a story on Steeplejacks. Ha.

Wednesday is still open at this point, but I think the editor and I will be headed to Merle Norman so he can get a facial. I write business features and Merle Norman is promoting their men’s line, so we are thinking outside the box here and will do a big article on them as they do a facial on my boss. LMAO! And then I will be up all night writing.

Thursday is deadline. I will be up early, I’m sure. I don’t know if I will be in the office or what.

Friday the Lifestyles editor and I will be headed to Nashville (three hours away) for a Tennessee Press Association awards banquet luncheon. I am going in place of the editor, even though he will be back. lol. I am praying we will be back in time for me to pick my kids up from the sitter’s house, since she closes at 5 pm.

Jaiden’s school never called me back today, so I don’t know what time the stupid Kindergarten things starts exactly, so we’ll have to skip it. School starts in just two and a half weeks (already!), so she can wait a little longer. I feel bad, but it would be nice if the stupid school would at least put the TIMES on the billboard, you know? Ugh.

Today I worked twelve hours. Didn’t take a lunch break because I knew we were behind. I forgot all about it until later when I realized it was dinnertime and I was on my way to the finance meeting. And thank God for the finance meeting because without it I would never have been destressed and almost put to sleep. I think I got 2.5 hours of sleep last night.

Oh, and remember the A/C issues I mentioned? How it was 96°F in my upstairs several days ago? Well the A/C unit was leaking almost above my bed and there was a big wet spot on the ceiling. This past weekend I noticed it was getting larger and more spots were forming. When I say ‘spot’, the original one was about two feet wide and three feet long. It’s happened before because there is a seam in the ceiling from the cut-out. And now? Uh yeah, today the ceiling BROKE. I now have a lovely three-foot by four-foot view of the attic, the rafters, the wet insulation and the A/C unit. Dad was the only one home when it happened and somehow the debris blocked the door to the stairs so he could barely open it (which means it was BAD). He spent the majority of the day cleaning it up. It was a mess and the carpet is wet, too. But my bed is dry, thank God.

The stupid thing is still dripping, so there are buckets hanging from one of the rafters. Drip drip. Drip drip. Drip drip. Very nice.

At least I can count on my kids – who, after more than two hours in bed are still not sleeping – to make noise and drown out the dripping. Yeah, I knew there was a reason I had them.
